13 weeks of summer fun. . .

I can remember a time when I started consulting for nonprofits (1992) when we would tell our clients that the summer was a slow time.  With so many charities and the use of technology that is no longer the case.  In certain parts of the country, there is a great deal of preparation for what is called “gala season” in the fall.  Planning for a successful event takes a long time, and it is one of the many tasks at hand.

This is also a busy time for major gift donors.  It’s time for them (and all of us) to slow down, take time with family and friends, go on that vacation that’s been planned for the last year or just be present to their children.   Donors who live in the hot south and southwest head north to places where there are mountains, lakes and cooler temperatures.  Donors in big cities find their way to the lakes and ocean, especially in the northeast.  Yes, it may be harder to make the connection with them, but fret not as fall is right around the corner.

At D’Alessandro Inc., we are going to put a pause button on our blogs for the next few months.  There are many good things happening for us, and this is an opportune time to plan for the coming year and the company’s growth.    We have some great conferences to attend including Fundraising Day in NYC, The Direct Marketing Association Conference in Washington DC, NonProfit Pro Power Conference and the Napa Institute.  These are times for us to stay connected with our friends and colleagues.  And if lucky, we will meet some more people looking for the consulting services we provide.

We wish you all a wonderful and safe summer.  Please write to us if we can be of assistance to you or your organization.  Until next time. . .
