During the holiday season, one of the usual activities is buying presents. We have our lists, we shop online and we go to the stores in search of that desired gift. This process may create pressure.
I have some friends of mine who I get together with especially around the holidays to just enjoy each other – to be present to one another. No gifts are exchanged, just stories, memories and dreams. The biggest pressure is where we will meet!
I realized that this will help in my work life. Clients, donors and coworkers appreciate when we are “just present” to them. We focus on them, we listen and they know that we care. Once we are truly present and others know that we care, our relationship jumps to another level.
Who do you need to be present to this holiday season?
“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift. That is why it is called a present.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt
