In my last blog I spoke about “superpowers”. . .that thing you do best. It got me thinking. Most of us have a key responsibility at our jobs. It is the most important bullet point in our job description. It becomes our superpower, whether we like it or not.
As fundraisers, are your spending enough time at that responsibility? Do you know what the most important task is?
Let’s assume that most of you are clear about your #1 responsibility. Whether it is major gifts, annual fund or grant writing. . . is this specialty consuming the majority of your time and effort?
Maybe… maybe not?
What keeps you from being your best? What’s getting in the way of your greatness?
For you, is it unnecessary meetings, missed opportunities to delegate or even gravitating to “more fun” tasks that do keep you busy, but keep you from “your best?”
Before 2019 gets away from you, look at that superpower that you’ve been charged with by your organization. Are you spending the right amount of time at it?
Before your boss (unless you are the boss) and your board realize it, make sure you do!
